These multi-sensory stories are designed to allow students with a learning disability, including autism to connect and engage with stories and reading. Sensory stories / adapted stories are a great activity for any special needs classroom, and many early childhood teachers have told me they also use them in their classrooms. They are simple stories (normally around 10 sentences long) and based on events students would be familiar with. The story script suggests sensory exploration ideas to accompany each sentence.
The Sensory Story Kits include:
- Story scripts with sensory experience suggestions
- Sound files to accompany story
- Printable visual book
The sensory story is intended to be highly interactive, and the more creative you are with sensory objects the better. The blank template also allows teachers to write in their own ideas for actions and sensory resources.
I have a range of FREE and affordable sensory story kits, available for download through my TeachersPayTeachers store.
