The Handy Hedgehog is a place for sharing. I hope to create a place where you can find ideas, resources and ask questions! This was something I was desperately searching for when I first began my career as a teacher, and again when I stepped into the world of special needs.

I have a background in mainstream (early childhood and middle childhood) and more recently special education. My teacher training was completed in Australia.

I have recently switched from wearing sunscreen to knitted jumpers. The move from Australia to Ireland was prompted by my husband’s career as a researcher. This adventure has given me a whole range of experiences and led me to working as a special needs teacher.

I ultimately stumbled into special education. I consider myself very lucky to have been given the opportunity to work at a special needs school. It has completely changed how I view students with special needs, and opened my mind to the possibilities that education can grow to be. I love each day, no matter how challenging it has been – and as many of you know… It is challenging! I suppose that is what makes it such a rewarding job.

Many of my resources are available for download through my TeachersPayTeachers store:
